Every bottle of Winshaw wine begins and ends on Winshaw. The vines, the soil, the decisions — Pierre and JP are involved in all of it. There is no second estate, no contract fruit, no shortcuts.
Two ranges give the wines their context: Story honours the lived moments that shaped the family; Legacy carries the names of the patriarchs who built what Pierre and JP now farm.

The Story Range is named for chapters of the Winshaw family journey. The Legacy Range carries the names of the men who made that journey possible.
Story 01
The Runaway
Pinot Gris
Pale salmon in the glass with a nose of white peach, dried apricot and a faint floral lift. Cool-fermented for freshness and texture.
Story 02
Swashbuckler
Chenin Blanc
Old-vine character with honeyed quince, green apple and a mineral finish. Unoaked to keep the fruit expressive and true to the farm.
Story 03
Gold Dust to Grapes
Chardonnay
A nod to the California gold rush story that brought Dr. Winshaw's ancestors to fortune. Citrus peel, warm brioche, and a long, clean finish.
Story 04
The Fox
Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark cassis, cedar, and a graphite edge. Eighteen months in French oak. Rated 95+ points by Greg Sherwood MW — the estate's flagship red.
The Fox Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most compelling wines to emerge from Stellenbosch this decade — precise, structured, and genuinely age-worthy.

Where They're Made
Wine tasting at Winshaw is unhurried. No scripts, no tour groups, no manufactured theatrics. Pour, talk, ask questions. Pierre or a member of the family will usually be around.

The Runaway — Pinot Gris
White peach, dried apricot, long clean finish. Entry point to the Story Range.

Swashbuckler — Chenin Blanc
Old-vine character. Honeyed quince, mineral backbone, unoaked and expressive.

The Fox — Cabernet Sauvignon
The flagship. Dark cassis, cedar, graphite. 18 months French oak. 95+ pts.

Structured and cellar-worthy. Named for the estate's founding patriarch.
Pierre & JP Winshaw
Fourth Generation.
No Shortcuts.
Pierre and JP did not inherit a winery. They inherited land — 44 years in the family — and the expectation to do something meaningful with it. The wines are a direct expression of that responsibility.
Their great-great-grandfather, Dr. William Charles Winshaw, arrived from Kentucky in 1900 and founded the Stellenbosch Farmers Winery in 1925 — producing Château Libertas and Tassenberg. Pierre and JP are doing something smaller and more personal.
